Flat Stanley Joins the Electricians

“Fire it up and let’s roll!” Flat Stanley said when he saw the electricians truck pull up in the yard next door to work on Nana and Papa’s new house.

He went out and took care of the chickens, giving them fresh water and hay and collecting the eggs.  Today he had dried mealworms and oyster shells as treats.  They do love their treats, and happy chickens make for tasty eggs!

After compiling a dozen in a leftover egg tray that friends save for us, Flat Stanley trotted next door with a swing in his step.  He was ready for adventure!

“Hi guy! I’m Flat Stanley,” he announced to the first worker man he saw in the house.

“Well hello there little man, I’m Elliot the Electrician!” he replied with a smile.

“I brought you some fresh eggs, do you need any help in here?” said Flat Stanley.

“Ohh electricity can be a very dangerous thing to work with Flat Stanley, but I’ll keep you safe and thank you for these eggs!  My family will love them.”

Flat Stanley was indeed a good worker.  He helped him tie the blue line tight into the box that Nana’s washing machine will plug into soon.

Then he had to do some work up high for the ceiling fan that will keep Nana and Papa cool in the summer.

“Louisville slugger coming to the rescue,” Flat Stanley said with a smile as he joined the guys working on the ceiling wires.

When he strung the wire way up high, it was a bit heavy for him and Swwiiisshhhh… down he came flying like a monkey on a trapeze wire.

“Ahhhahahahahaaahhhhh” he hollared like Tarzan.”  Do you know who Tarzan is?  Well he lived in the jungle and swung from thick vines from tree to tree and he had this most particular shout he did as he flew through the air.  Can you do that shout?

“Whew…I think I’ll stick with the ground wiring.” Flat Stanley said after his flight through the air.

So he got down on his knees like Theodore and began threading the wires through the electrical boxes with him.  This is where Papa’s plugs will plug in his TV.  Papa is excited about his new TV, he says every house should start off with a new TV, and the bigger the better for watching the Red Sox play!  He loves his Red Sox baseball team.  Do you have a favorite team?

Today, Flat Stanley’s favorite team was Elliot’s Electric Company.  They kept him safe and taught him a lot of new skills.  Flat Stanley was a really good helper and enjoyed the smiles the day brought.  I hope this finds you smiling too.  Enjoy your day and thank you for sharing Flat Stanley’s Adventures with your friends and family.

Flat Stanley Spends the Day with Briana

Flat Stanley was quick to notice that Nana wasn’t in the best of moods this morning.  He was careful to stay out of her way and not become the target of her bad mood.  You know how some days are just like that and you need your own space?  Flat Stanley has had days like this too; have you?

So, Flat Stanley decided to make himself disappear, not really disappear; although that would be fun, but leave for a while.  He went to visit Auntie Terri and Briana next door.  He left Papa to cheer Nana up.

Unfortunately, it seems this bad mood is contagious today!

Auntie Terri was in a wicked mood too!  When he walked in the door, he could hear Auntie Terri was very upset with Briana about her messy room.

“You’ll clean this room today, before you go out and play,” Auntie Terri said.

Flat Stanley watched as Auntie Terri stomped back into the living room, where she returned to her vacuuming.

“I can help you clean your room,” Flat Stanley told Briana.  “Come on, we can make it fun!  Put some music on and we’ll dance our way through it!”

Briana put her favorite song by Jacob Sartorius on really loud and began doing the pick it up and put it away dance.  Flat Stanley joined in, and then grabbed the vacuum from Auntie Terri to get the floor looking nice too.

When Auntie Terri returned to see Briana’s room all clean, dusted and vacuumed, she smiled.

“Nice job Briana, and you’re quite the helper little man,” she told them.  “Now you can go out and play!”

Briana invited her friend over.  They call her “Muffin,” because she’s so sweet.

Then Briana and Flat Stanley decided to bring their friend over to visit Nana and see if her day was getting better.  Nana was sitting in her easy chair watching the Red Sox lose and she didn’t seem to be in a better mood, but at least she wasn’t growling under her breath anymore.

Nana’s house looked really clean too, I guess that’s what people do when they’re in bad moods, clean.

After the game was over, Flat Stanley and Briana found Nana with her headphones on and singing really loud, “Down in Jungleland…” Nana loves her Bruce Springsteen.  The best part was seeing her smile returned.

I guess everyone has their days.  I hope your day found you smiling and if not, then Flat Stanley has decided to tell you to play your favorite music, loudly!

What song will you choose? I’d love to hear in the comments below.

Flat Stanley Goes to Fenway Park!

Nana and Papa are HUGE Boston Red Sox baseball fans.  They never miss seeing a game.  Their granddaughter Briana isn’t a big fan, but Nana is working on her.  A few times a week Nana will excitedly inform Briana of the highlights and her granddaughter will just shake her head and say, “I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t watch baseball.”  But Nana doesn’t give up.  “Someday…” she replies, “someday you’re going to LOVE Baseball!”

Flat Stanley was actually excited to hear they were going to Fenway Park to see a game LIVE!  Nana didn’t have to talk him into coming along!

“The Boston Red Sox are playing the Baltimore Orioles today.” Nana explained to Flat Stanley in the car.

“Which team is better?” Flat Stanley asked.

“Well usually, I’d always answer the Red Sox no matter what, but in this case, Baltimore really is about 15 games behind in wins.  The Red Sox are tied with the New York Yankees for first place in their division.”

As they entered the ballpark, Flat Stanley had his trusty catching glove on, just in case a ball came flying his way, hopefully off of Mookie Betts’ bat!  He loves watching the games at home with Nana and Papa and likes to call Mookie Betts, Moooooootts;  it’s his little nickname Flat Stanley gave him.

“Mookie has the most homeruns this year out of all players in the league!” Papa announced.  “He hit his 15th homerun last night!” Papa said smiling.

They found their seats near the bull pen.  This is where the pitchers practice their throwing.  It was an exciting place to sit.  Flat Stanley loved watching all the players practicing.

Flat Stanley decided to go for a little walk around the park.  When he made his way over to the dugout where all the batters sit waiting for their turn to hit the ball, he shouted out to Hanley and Mookie.

“Hey Mooots and Hanley, want to get a selfie with me?”

“Sure!, come on in here!” Mooots replied with his big ol’ smile.

A selfie to remember!

Flat Stanley made his way over to coach Cora, and started singing.  “Put me in coach, I’m ready to play, today…” Cora was eating his sunflower seeds and spitting the shells on the ground.

“You’re going to have to prove yourself in college first, little man.”  He informed him.

Flat Stanley was a little disappointed, and meandered back to his seat with Nana and Papa.  He was jumping up and down and cheering with everyone else in the stands when the Red Sox made another good play.

The game was an exciting one!  JD hit a homerun right over Flat Stanley’s head way up high curving around what Papa called the “Pesky Pole.”

“They call it the Pesky Pole,” Papa told him, “because Johnny Pesky curled a ball around it for a homerun in a very important game when I was a young boy.”

Flat Stanley looked up at the big yellow pole rising up into the sky and an idea to climb it came to mind.  You know he wanted to, you know he had to; you know he DID!

From way up high on the pole, Flat Stanley watched another ball go sailing into the crowd off of JD’s bat!  He hit TWO homeruns today, tying Mookie Betts for the most homeruns this season!  So now, the top two homerun hitters in all of major league baseball, play for the Red Sox!

Flat Stanley was cheering and supporting his team!  He loves baseball.

Flat Stanley carefully made his way down from the big yellow “Pesky Pole,” and snuck behind Manny Machado, who plays for the opposing team, the Baltimore Orioles.  Flat Stanley began heckling him.

“Hey batter batter, heeyyyy batter batter, swing, swing and MISSSSS!!” Flat Stanley was laughing and then began singing a tune from The Lion King.  “Swing and miss Machado, oooh yeahhh… acumba Machado!”  And just like that he struck out!  It worked!

Flat Stanley loved the game and being on the side of the winning team makes it much more fun!  When the game ended with the score of 5 – 0 Boston, Flat Stanley made his way to the dugout once again to high five the winners!  He gave a big high five to Brock Holt.  Nana calls him “The Brock Star.”

It was a fun day at Fenway Park and everyone left with big smiles on their faces!  I hope this finds you smiling too!  Have a great week and subscribe so that Nana can send you an email whenever a new Flat Stanley Adventure is posted.
