Flat Stanley Rides the Storm Out

As Flat Stanley layed his head down to sleep.  His pillow needed a bit of fluffing up and Nana helped adjust his sheets just so.

“Ok, Flat Stanley, we’ll rise early tomorrow, so get a good night’s sleep.” Nana said after reading a bit.  “Nana’s making bullseye eggs for breakfast tomorrow.”

Flat Stanley smiled as Nana left the room, he likes when Nana cuts the hole in the center of the bread and breaks an egg inside.  She flips it so carefully, that the yolk stays whole and runny.  Then you use the circle of toast she grills in the pan to dip in the yolk.

Sleep didn’t come quickly for Flat Stanley.  He tossed and turned a bit and the rain was beating against his window.  Usually, this is a comforting sound and it puts him right to sleep, but tonight, his mind just kept wandering to far away places.

Of course he was thinking about his friends in Virginia and he smiled recalling the dolphin ride with Mermaid Alexa.  Dreams are such a wonderful thing.  He squeezed his eyes shut tight, trying to enter a really fun dream.

But then crash boom went the thunder, and lightning bolts lit up the sky outside of his bedroom window.  Flat Stanley sat straight up in bed and said.. “Nanahhhh,” but Nana had already gone downstairs and Flat Stanley knew he should be sleeping, so he placed the pillow over his head and tried to silence the thunder.

His mind then went to fourth of July celebrations.  You know when the sky lights up in vibrant colors of red, white and blue?  Flat Stanley pretended that the crack boom bam in the sky was fireworks.

He pictured himself with Alexa and her cousins.  They were sitting on a sandy beach in a circle around a BIG Firepit.  Each of them had a straightened coat hanger with a marshmallow on the end of the stick roasting and toasting as they turned the gooey goodness over the flames.

Flat Stanley accidentally caught his marshmallow on fire, and when he blew it out, it was as black as tar.  Flat Stanley slid the burned outer crust off and ate the yummy warm marshmallow inside.

His next marshmallow was perfectly brown like toast as he carefully kept the marshmallow above the flames.

BOOOOM!!!  Came another wicked thunder clap.  Flat Stanley held his pillow tightly over his head and pictured the beautiful fireworks in the sky with Alexa beside him.  Everyone clapped and cheered in excitement.

He took a deep breath and went back to his marshmallows.  He imagined Alexa handing him a graham cracker and piece of chocolate.  Flat Stanley snapped the graham cracker in half and then placed the piece of chocolate on one half of the graham cracker and then like a sandwich, he slid his perfectly toasted marshmallow off of the stick to complete his masterpiece S’more!

Want S’mores?  I do too now!

He imagined the creamy goodness as the storm seemed to settle down ouside and he found himself falling to sleep.

In the morning, Flat Stanley trotted downstairs to the smell of fresh eggs cooking.  BULLSEYES!!  yeah!!!  Flat Stanley was smiling, Nana was smiling too.  She knows that thunderstorms can sound very loud and she was proud of Flat Stanley for riding the storm out as he described how he did it.  I hope you’re smiling too and that when the next storm comes that you ride it out as bravely as Flat Stanley.

Flat Stanley and the Chickens

Nana and Papa slept in later than normal this morning.  Flat Stanley got up early and went out to check on the chickens.  They’ve been doing fairly well with all of the big construction trucks and earth moving around their coop.  Flat Stanley wanted to give them some special treats and top off their water, but while doing so, he noticed smells coming from the coop, and they were pretty bad.

When Nana got up, Flat Stanley asked if he could let the chickens run free so that he could clean the coop for her.  Well this was music to Nana’s ears!

“Yes, Flat Stanley, I think the chickens will enjoy roaming free today.” I replied.  I went to bed with music ringing in my ears from a concert and now I wake up to the sweet sound of kindness? Life is good!

The chickens enjoy the special hay that Nana puts in the chicken’s nesting boxes.  It’s softer for them to snuggle in and lay their eggs.  The stuff on the ground level of the coop is more scratchy; but that’s what they do most of the time, scratch the ground looking for bugs and treats.

Today the chickens were roaming free and decided to dig in under a bush for a nice dust bath.  Did you know chicken’s bathe in dirt?  They fluff up their feathers and the dust takes any mites away.  It’s nature’s way…

When Nana came out to check on things, one chicken tried untying her shoelace!  Her name is Cagney, you can tell by her very red mane around her neck area.

After cleaning the coop, Flat Stanley decided to go ROCK CLIMBING!

The rocks are really stacking up from the big crater they’re digging for Nana and Papa’s new house!  Flat Stanley ever so carefully climbed to the VERY top and sang to the chickens running around below him.

“I’m on the top of the world, looking down on creation, and the only explaination, I can find…”

On his walk through the woods behind the house, Flat Stanley found more signs of spring returning to Massachusetts!  When he brought one of these pretty flowers to Nana, she told him they were purple periwinkles, and she winked at him.

He winked back with his two eyed wink, he hasn’t mastered the wink with just one eye thingy, but he tries.

Can you wink with just one eye?

Nana just winked back at you!

I hope Flat Stanley made you smile today!  If so, please subscribe, so Nana can send you an email whenever she posts a new Flat Stanley Adventure.  Today, Nana posted a video of the chickens giving themselves a dustbath.  You may wish to follow Flat Stanley’s Blog on Facebook too.  Keep smiling!

Flat Stanley Goes Shopping

Grocery shopping is never a fun task, unless of course Flat Stanley comes along!

Nana always starts off in the produce section.  She loves her fresh fruit.  Flat Stanley loves fresh fruit too!  His favorite as you know is cantaloupe, so Nana bought a nice ripe one.

What’s your favorite Fruit?

While Nana was picking out some fresh herbs and getting carrots, Flat Stanley climbed up on the pineapple bin and began singing in a high pitched wail:

“Pineapple princess, he calls me pineapple princess all day, as he plays his ukulele on the hill above the bay.  Pineapple princess, I love you, you’re the sweetest girl I’ve seen.  Some day we’re gonna marry and you’ll be my pineapple queen.”

Nana didn’t even flinch.  She’s getting used to his silly ways.  She actually just continued shopping, shaking her head.  Other shoppers seemed to enjoy his singing, so he continued on.

Nana was three isles up when Flat Stanley thought of a trick.  He went up the next isle where Nana was heading, where the cereals were, he squeezed his body in tight next to Nana’s favorite.

When Nana came upon the cereal isle she was wondering where Flat Stanley had gone off to and was just about to turn around to go find him when she spotted her favorite cereal box.  She reached up to grab it and out popped Flat Stanley, making her shout in surprise!

“Flat Stanley!!  You got me!”  He’s so good at hiding in tight spaces.

Nana continued on and stocked up on milk and bread for the family.

As they were checking out and Nana was putting her groceries on the conveyor belt, Flat Stanley jumped onto the candy shelf.

“Pleeeeeease Nana, pleeease can I have one, just one?!” Flat Stanley asked in his voice that’s sweeter than candy.

Nana couldn’t resist his sweet voice. “Yes, you can have a candy bar,” she said.

Which candy bar do you think Flat Stanley selected?

Which one is your favorite?

Papa’s favorite is an Almond Joy, Nana’s is a Kit Kat, but Flat Stanley chose the M&M’s.  He likes the one’s without the nuts, because he’s quite nutty enough.

Flat Stanley left the store smiling with his bag of M&M’s in his hand.

I hope this finds you smiling too!

Enjoy your day and please subscribe so Nana can send an email when a new Flat Stanley Adventure is posted.

Flat Stanley Goes to Colorado

Flat Stanley had a really boring day yesterday. Nana and Papa were buried neck deep in paperwork (not really, but they were really busy with stacks of papers all around them).  They were doing what they called taxes and had no time to play or go anywhere.

Nana and Papa’s friend Shinae called and asked if Flat Stanley would like to go to Colorado with her.

“Flat Stanley, would you like to go to Colorado with Shinae tomorrow?” Nana asked.

“Shinae? The lady with the crazy laugh and funny dance?”  Flat Stanley asked.

Nana giggled at Flat Stanley’s description.

“I’d love to see Colorado! But where is Colorado?” Flat Stanley asked. Shoot at this point if someone asked him to go to the dump he would have jumped up for joy!  He was so bored!

Nana Showed Flat Stanley Colorado on a map.  Can you find the little state of Massachusetts?  That’s a long way to travel!

Shinae was excited to spend some time with Flat Stanley and Flat Stanley was thrilled!  She bought his ticket and they were all set to travel!  See his name?

Flat Stanley loves to ride on the airplane.

Looking DOWN on clouds is really fun!  The sun was setting and going to sleep, right into the clouds.  Flat Stanley was glad when the sun went down, because it was kind of hurting his eyes.  The sunset hues on the horizon were really pretty after the sun set.

When they landed, it was really late.  Flat Stanley looked up at a clock and saw that it said 9:30PM in the airport in Colorado.  Flat Stanley looked at his watch and it said 11:30PM.

“Shinae, I think the clocks are wrong here,” Flat Stanley said.

“Shinae laughed her crazy laugh and explained that as you travel east and west, that the time changes.  There’s eastern standard time, pacific standard time and Colorado is in the Mountain Time Zone in the middle of the country.

“There are a lot of mountains here! When we were flying over them and coming in for a landing, I thought we were going to pop the top right off one of the mountains.” Flat Stanley exclaimed.

This is going to be a fun time, Flat Stanley does keep you smiling, Shinae was thinking.  She held Flat Stanley’s hand to keep him close through the busy airport.  They picked up their bags from the carousel and Flat Stanley went to hop on for a ride.  It goes round and round like a merry go round!  Shinae was quick to keep him safely by her side.

After a great night’s sleep in the hotel, Shinae woke up really early and asked Flat Stanley if he wanted to go hiking with her.

“Can we wait for the sun to come up before we go?” Flat Stanley asked.

“We’ll go down for breakfast first and then the sun will come up before we go out.” Shinae replied.

Flat Stanley was tired from the flight but the thought of orange juice and pancakes got him up.

After he had his breakfast his muscles and body were awake and he was ready to HIKE!  Flat Stanley brought his knees up as high as he could, one and then the other to work out the sleepy kinks and get ready for his hike!

They drove to what they call the Paint Mines.  The colorful clay formations look like a monster giant took a paintbrush and created a beautiful piece of art.

Shinae is a fast walker!  Flat Stanley’s little legs struggled to keep up with her, but she was determined to go the full 2 miles.  As they were walking along the brightly colored, clayish rocks, in shades of yellow, red, grey, and white, Shinae told him the story about how Native Americans used to mine for pigments and supplies for making pottery on these very grounds.  Flat Stanley was picturing himself with a mining pick in hand.

Flat Stanley was tired after their hike and enjoyed the ride in the car.

“Next we’re going to Seven Falls!” Shinae told Flat Stanley.  “It’s a place where seven waterfalls cascade down mountain cliffs.”

Flat Stanley was so giddy, he loves the sound of waterfalls crashing down the mountains.  When they parked the car, Shinae took him from his trusted cup holder seat and he ran to the base of the stairs.

The stairs were so steep and tall and there were 224 steps to the top!

“Do you think you can do this Flat Stanley?” Shinae asked.

Like the little engine that could, Flat Stanley replied, “I think I can, I think I can…” and they began to climb.  Flat Stanley was counting each and every step as they climbed.  When they got to 145 steps he had to stop for a rest on the platform.

Shinae wasn’t even out of breath!  She must do this hiking thing a lot!  She was being silly while Flat Stanley was resting.  She started in on her silly dance routine.  With her arms straightened she moved her hips from one side to the other and forward and backwards through her arms.  Flat Stanley was giggling at Shinae.  She is fun!

Then they started to climb once again.

“I think I can, I think I can…” Flat Stanley grunted out in a tired and slower drawl.  It sounded like Flat Stanley’s motor may be stalling out, but he kept climbing.

“Flat Stanley you MADE IT!!!!” Shinae was so happy for him.

The view of the waterfalls from up high above them was absolutely beautiful!  His little legs were tired and wobbly, but Flat Stanley’s smile was bright and beautiful.

I hope you’re smiling too!  Now Nana has the tune that will play through her head all day today. “I think I can, I think I can…”

Enjoy your day and keep smiling!  If you subscribe, Nana will send you an email whenever a new Flat Stanley Adventure is posted!

Flat Stanley and the Sky Bucket

Flat Stanley was enjoying his morning breakfast.  Today, Nana made scrambled eggs with cheese made from goats milk.  The chickens lay the biggest eggs, just one egg and Flat Stanley is full.  While he was finishing up his egg, he looked out the window and saw the big claw machine carrying a full tree up the driveway!  He quickly brought his empty plate to Nana in the kitchen and ran for the door.

As he ran around the house he heard the loud chainsaw cutting trees and looked up.  When he saw the big bucket truck carrying a man with a chainsaw way up high in the air, he jumped up and down and ran back into the house!

“Nana, Nana come quick! You’ve got to see this!” Flat Stanley shouted in his high pitched voice that gets ever so higher when he’s excited.

Flat Stanley grabbed my hand and led me to the door, and then around the house.  It was a sight to see!  The bucket truck was way up high in the sky!

I asked Flat Stanley if he would like to do that job.  Flat Stanley looked at me in wide eyed wonder and then shook his head from side to side.  “No, NO Way,” Flat Stanley replied. “I’d like to drive the trucks on the ground though, like Bobcat Bob” Flat Stanley said.

Would you like to do this bucket job way up high in the sky?  Let us know in the comments below.

They were pushing the dirt around, lifting logs and creating a big flat space where Nana and Papa’s new house will be built.

Flat Stanley sat on the rock wall out front and watched them for most of the day.  It was fun to see the big dirt pile growing bigger and bigger.  He was careful to stay out of the way today as there were trees coming down with loud crashes from way up high in the sky.  Then the big claw machine would pick up the logs and carry them to the log stack that’s growing higher than a house.

A giant would have fun playing lincoln logs with that stack!

The chickens liked eating the little bugs that were gathering on the wood pile.  Flat Stanley was happy to see the chickens running free today.  They seem to be getting used to all of the loud noises around them.  Nana saw Flat Stanley looking at the chicken’s little ears.

“Did you know that you can tell what color eggs your chicken will lay based on the color of the little flap around the chicken’s ears?” Nana asked Flat Stanley.  Flat Stanley thought Nana was playing another one of her little jokes, but no, she was serious.  “It’s true.” she said.  “So, you learned something new today!”

Nana has a lot of crazy facts stored up in that brain of hers. Flat Stanley thought as he looked up at her smiling his beautiful smile.  Nana smiled back at him…crazy kid.

I hope you’re smiling too!  Please Subscribe and Nana will send you an email when a new Flat Stanley adventure is posted! There’s nothing brighter than a smile delivered every day!

Flat Stanley “The WorkerMan”

Today, Flat Stanley enjoyed a trip to Home Depot with Nana and Papa.  Home Depot is a BIG super store filled with builder stuff for workermen!  Flat Stanley LOVED this store!  He grunted as soon as he walked in, just like a big burly WorkerMan! “Grunt, Grunt!!”

Nana and Papa were excited to see the gardening section “springing” to life with potted flowers and vegetables!  We’ll be ready to plant very soon!

Flat Stanley is ready to ride the riding lawn mower with Briana this summer!  He was practicing in Home Depot today.

“RMMMMMmmmmm, RRMMMMMmmmmmm…” he sounded like a big motor as he road the shiny yellow display mower in a circle around the store.

Nana chased him down and cornered him as he came around the second isle.  “Flat Stanley!  You’re going to get in trouble riding around here on that!!”   He parked it where he started out and his head looked at the ground, before looking up at Nana through his eyebrows.  He felt bad for what he did.  But it was so much fun!  He cannot wait for summertime to cut the grass for Nana and Papa at the farm!  I wonder if Briana will let him?

Flat Stanley didn’t stay out of trouble long though.  There are a lot of things for Flat Stanley to get into in this big store!  He found the lift that allows employees to reach the highest shelves within this big warehouse store.  Again, he couldn’t help himself, it was like a burning fire in his belly, he just had to ride it! He climbed up and hit the switch.  UUUUpppppp up up Flat Stanley rose!!

He was nearly to the big florescent lights when Nana hit the button for him to return to earth.  “Flat Stanley!!  You’re not allowed to do that!” She helped him off of the big machine and tried to keep a better eye on him so he wouldn’t get into more trouble.

Flat Stanley saw a workshop going on, they were teaching you how to lay tile flooring.  Flat Stanley had to try it!  He just had to.  This time he did ask Nana first though, and Nana said YES!!

He was so happy wielding the big hammer like the worker man!  He huffed as he rose the hammer way above his head and then CRASH, whoops, he broked the tile.  Well this day isn’t going as well as we had hoped.  The worker man was very helpful showing him how you just gently tap the side of the tile to line it up with the next when you’re laying your new floor.  This wasn’t as much fun, but he tried it before moving along.

“If I’m going to be a WorkerMan,” Flat Stanley said, I’m going to need a big red toolbelt!  Flat Stanley strapped the BIG Belt around his waist.  It had a lot of pockets for tools.  Unfortunately, it was so heavy without any tools in it that Flat Stanley took one step forward and BOOOOM!  He was down.  He fell forward and couldn’t get up.

Nana helped Flat Stanley remove the tool belt and was ready to lift him into the cart like a baby, to keep him out of trouble at this point!

He was with Papa around the next isle when Nana heard the pop, Pop POP and had to run to see what they were up to.  As she rounded the corner she found BOTH Papa and Flat Stanley with the Bubble Cushion.

It was an entire roll of those poppable bubbles you get when you order breakable items in the mail.  They were pop pop popping them in the isle!  “PAPA!! What are you teaching him?!” Nana asked in dismay.  Papa smiled and winked at Flat Stanley, “Noone can resist an entire roll of a pop pop pop Bubble Cushion!”

Oh goodness, this shopping trip was not going as planned.  Nana was upset.  Flat Stanley wanted to make it up to Nana, so when they passed the spring Easter Lillies, he hopped up into the flower’s greenery and when Nana passed, he tapped her on the shoulder.

Nana couldn’t help but smile, and yes, she put them in her cart.

We hope that Flat Stanley made you smile today and if you SUBSCRIBE, Nana will send you a smile tomorrow!  You’ll receive an email whenever there is a new Flat Stanley Adventure posted.

Flat Stanley watches over the Chickens

Flat Stanley woke up to the sound of a large boom that shook the house!  He knew the workermen must be running those big machines and couldn’t wait to put his clothes on!  He remembered the snow we had yesterday and grabbed his thickest sweatshirt and beanie knit hat (like Bobcat Bob’s) before going out to see what the noise was all about.

That BIG Black box is a called a dipsy dumpster!  That’s a funny name.  I’ll bet you can’t say that three time’s really fast!

The truck driver explained to Flat Stanley that the stumps were going to come out of the ground today and they’d be put in the dipsty dumpster.

There are a lot of stumps that need to come out of the ground before Nana and Papa’s house can be built.

This BIG claw machine was clawing up under each root and then the driver operator would lift the big claw up high in the air with the root in the claw and dump each one in the dipsy dumpster trash barrel.

Flat Stanley was playing on a stump, watching the big clawed machine and feeling the ground shake under his body.  Then Nana hollered, “Flat Stanley come off of that stump, here comes the digger!”

Flat Stanley quickly jumped down off of the stump and ran really fast across the driveway to safety!  That stump is gone now.  It was sitting where Nana and Papa’s living room will be.  The roots run very deep on these old stumps.

All of the shaking and pounding on the raw earth made the chickens very nervous.  Nana and Flat Stanley moved the chickens to the other side of the yard, far far away from the noise.  They gave them special treats and Flat Stanley stayed outside to play with them.

Flat Stanley did a nice job of keeping the chickens happy today.  We hope you are happy too!  If Flat Stanley made you smile today, please Subscribe so that Nana can send you a smile in your email box the next time she posts a Flat Stanley Adventure!

Flat Stanley is Looking for Spring

Yesterday morning, Flat Stanley and Alexa were playing in the yard and  they found little crocus flowers with their purple and yellow blooms beginning to sprout!  Today, Flat Stanley was missing his friend Alexa, and was very surprised when he looked out the window and saw SNOW! “She would have enjoyed playing in the snow with me,” Flat Stanley thought.

“Is this a late April Fool’s joke?” Flat Stanley asked.  April 2nd in New England brings snow?  What happened to spring?

Nana took the water heater out of the chicken coop yesterday and we wrapped up the electrical cord running from the barn.  Chickens can’t have their water freeze.  So, Flat Stanley and Nana went out first thing in the morning to pour some warm water in their waterer.  The water was fine and the chickens loved the fresh veggie scraps Flat Stanley fed them this morning.

After collecting the eggs, Flat Stanley and Nana began walking toward the house when they heard a BIG Truck and looked out at the street to see another BIG claw machine, coming up the driveway!

Flat Stanley’s smile grew really wide!  It was Bobcat Bob coming back, but this time with a BIGGER Claw!

Bobcat Bob was having trouble seeing out of the window, so he was looking around for a solution.  “That big machine has a LOT of really important mechanical parts and special features, it’s a shame that they forgot windshield wipers,” Bobcat Bob said.

When he left to find a solution, Flat Stanley was quick to take advantage of the situation.

Seeing the key left in the ignition, Flat Stanley was just about to start ‘er up, when Bobcat Bob came back around the side of the house and started down the driveway.  Flat Stanley JUMPED out of the big clawed monster and whistled his way past Bobcat Bob as if nothing had happened.

Maybe someday, he’ll get his chance to operate this big machine.

Unfortunately, nobody will be operating it today.  The snow kept them from being able to see through the windshield.  At least the chickens were happy!  They hate the noise of the big machines.

Hey, do you know how to whistle?  Flat Stanley has a really high pitched whistle, kind of like his singing voice.

I hope you enjoy a happy day that makes you whistle and laugh a lot.  If Flat Stanley made you smile today, please Subscribe so Nana can send you a smile in your email box EVERY day, when she posts a new Flat Stanley Adventure!

Alexa Visits Flat Stanley in Massachusetts

You know that Flat Stanley was quite the prankster yesterday, we were all gearing up for the big April Fool’s pranks.  But the biggest prank of all was played on Flat Stanley!

Last night, we told Flat Stanley that the Easter Bunny was coming for a visit.  He was so excited, he hopped like a bunny around the living room and wiggled his little nose.  “What does the easter bunny smell like?” Flat Stanley asked.  “I know!” he said, answering his own question; “CANDY!!!”

Well later in the afternoon, sure enough the doorbell rings.  DING DONG.  Flat Stanley’s mouth opened wide, “He’s here!! Or is it a She?” He opened the door, just a crack at first to take a peek, and then IN HOPS the Easter Bunny!!!  The prank came when the easter bunny lifted the head off of her costume and Flat Stanley saw it was really ALEXA!  It was a she!  Nana and Papa’s granddaughter Alexa came up from Virginia to spend Easter with Flat Stanley in Massachusetts!  Flat Stanley was so excited!

They went out to the chicken coop first and Flat Stanley introduced Alexa to all of the chickens and let her help in giving them their treats and fresh water.

Later that night, they decorated EASTER Eggs!  They have so much fun when they get to visit each other!  Look at how they both glow with joy when they share time together.

“Tadahhhhh” Flat Stanley said, when his were all finished.

This is Nana’s favorite.  Look at how smitten she is.  She loves her Flat Stanley.  Nana loves them both so very much.  I’m so glad Alexa came to visit us!

After the eggs were all colored and a treat for the REAL easter bunny was “layed” on the table, everyone went upstairs to read their bedtime stories and go to sleep for the night.

In the morning, guess what?!  YUP!!  It was EASTER!

Yeah!  What a beautiful day!  Happy Easter!!

When Nana and Papa came downstairs, they went out with the kids to hunt for Easter Eggs!

Good LUCK!  The bunny knew it was April Fool’s Day too and hid WHITE Easter Eggs in the WHITE snow!!!  Haha.. not really, April Fool’s to you!!!  Flat Stanley and Alexa wanted to play this silly joke on you.  Actually, the snow has melted and we’re starting to see little crocus flowers blooming in pretty yellow and purple!  But if white eggs had been hidden…phwew they would have been REALLY hard to find in the snow last week!

Hunting for eggs was fun with Flat Stanley.  Alexa would see an egg under a bush or in a really tight fitting place that she couldn’t reach, but Flat Stanley would squeeze his flat self in to get the egg for Alexa.  They got a nice basket of eggs together from very well hidden places.  It was a fun Easter morning for all of us.

Nana came inside because she wanted eggs for breakfast.  She wanted Papa’s really good scrambled eggs.  So, as usual, she got his pan, butter and eggs out.. but then an idea came to her.  She saw the WOODEN (but VERY real looking eggs) she keeps in a jar on the window sill.

…and now we wait for Papa to come downstairs and try to crack the wooden eggs into the pan.  I’ll try to have my camera ready…tehe.  It’s going to be a FUN day with the combination of BOTH Easter AND April Fool’s Day all wrapped up in one big pretty bow!

We love you Alexa and we’re SO Happy that you got to share this Easter Morning with us in Massachusetts (wink wink)!

We hope you enjoy a wonderful Easter with your family and that you smile a lot today.  If Flat Stanley brought a smile to your face, please SUBSCRIBE so that Nana can send you a smile the next time a new Flat Stanley Adventure is posted!!

Flat Stanley the Prankster!

Nana was a little groggy this morning.  These early morning workers are messing with her usual late night and late morning schedule.  Flat Stanley woke up earlier than usual, and came downstairs.  He had a cereal bar and some juice and was just waiting for the day to begin!

Nana came out of the bathroom and into the kitchen, heading straight for the coffee pot.  When out of the corner near the cabinets UP springs Flat Stanley from a crouched position with a LOUD “RRRAAAHGGGHHHHHHH!!!”  I jumped about 10 inches off the ground and shouted in fear!!  “Flat Stanley!!!  What are you trying to do to Nana?!!!” I shouted.

Flat Stanley couldn’t answer because he was rolling on the kitchen floor laughing.  Nana shook her head and made her way to the coffee machine.  “This crazy house is going to get the better of me,” Nana whispered under her breath with a little bit of a giggle of her own.  He got me, the little prankster.

After Nana’s breakfast the builder came by to meet with Nana and Papa and go over some plans for the new house.

“I see you brought Papa’s bathroom a bit early,” Nana said.  The builder looked at Nana and nodded in understanding of her own little prank.  He explained how the supply house was running a special, so he had it delivered quite early this morning, and it’s a nice all in one system.  Papa nodded his head understanding a discount; but he was a little surprised that he didn’t get to pick it out.

After the builder left, Nana and Flat Stanley went outside to play, and I wanted to show him Papa’s “new bathroom” so Flat Stanley could be in on the prank.

Inside is the all in one system.  Flat Stanley turned as white as a sheet!  “You go to the bathroom in here?” Flat Stanley asked.  Well, the workermen will be working long days and as the  house is being built, there will be no bathroom, so yes.  They will use this, the Porta Potty.

When they all went out later in the day, they drove down the drive and Papa saw his “new bathroom.” Everyone got a good laugh. “You got me!!!” Papa said with a laugh.  Pranks are fun.

When Papa saw it from further up the driveway, he thought it was a “telephone booth.”

“What’s a telephone booth?” Flat Stanley asked.

“Well today,” Nana explained, “people walk around with cell phones in their pockets or up to their ears or looking down to text as they try to walk.  Before cell phones were invented, there were pay phone booths set up on corners, where many people walked.”  You’d put a dime in next to the ear piece and dial the number you’d like to call.  It had a little bench inside too, and kind of looked like a little clear windowed outhouse.”

Have you ever pranked someone?  Flat Stanley would love for you to share your pranks in the comments below.  Tomorrow is Easter, and April Fool’s Day!  What pranks will you play?

We hope you enjoy a beautiful day and if Flat Stanley made you smile today, be sure to Subscribe so Nana can send you an email when our next adventure is posted.  A smile a day keeps the doctor away!
