Flat Stanley Shows Kindness

Nana woke up not feeling well today.  Flat Stanley could see she was pretty miserable when she finished her first cup of coffee and that didn’t bring about her usual smile.

She took some cold medicine and layed on the couch with a lozenge in her mouth to sooth her sore throat.

Flat Stanley rummaged through the kitchen until he found a nice blend of ginger and green teas that he knew she would enjoy.  He put the cup of water in the microwave and waited for it to steam.  After steeping the teabags for a few minutes, he brought Nana a nice cup of hot tea.

“Oh, Flat Stanley, you didn’t have to do that, but I’m so glad you did.  The steam will really help my sore throat,” Nana said.

As Nana sipped on her hot tea, she began to let her mind wander…do you learn kindness or are you born either being kind or not so kind.  All of us have kindness within us, but some of us let that kindness shine more often.

What brought about these thoughts was a book written by a new friend  Rhonda Paglia.  It’s called “The Kindness Kids Project.”

Flat Stanley and Nana were reading the book together yesterday, and really enjoyed the creative ways the kids expressed how they show kindness in so many ways.

How do you show kindness?

This is a really nice book that is full of art and examples of how kid’s show kindness in their own special ways.

“Kids really do want to make this world a better place,” Flat Stanley said.  He loved looking at the beautiful pictures and descriptions on how each kid shows kindness.  It gave him some great ideas.

Nana is going to visit her grandloves soon and plans to have the kids draw pictures and write about how they show kindness.  It will be a fun thing to do together.

Are you a kindness kid?  Do you help protect the earth.  Some kids talked about recycling, picking up trash others had thrown on the ground and remembering to turn off the lights when not in use.

I hope you are thinking about ways to show kindness.  This makes Nana smile, even when she’s not feeling well.

I hope you’re smiling too!  If you’re interested in getting your own copy of The Kindness Kids Project book, you can ORDER it from Amazon.

Have a beautiful day and spread the love through kindness.  Our world needs more kindness kids!
